At Luxel we pride
ourselves on our responsiveness to X-ray researchers who are working in universities,
synchrotron radiation centers, and government laboratories or almost anywhere there are
X-ray and EUV sources, large and small. Custom applications are our specialty and we
invite inquires regarding your special needs or customized products. Let our
engineers help solve your design challenges!
Custom Development Custom development includes our work for NASA on building filters for the
Transition Region and Coronal Explorer (TRACE); work for
the Department of Energy, developing specialized X-ray laser targets, and a
recently completed project to develop filters for use in the EUV lithography to enhance
miniaturization of
integrated circuits. For a larger sampling visit our customers
page.
Filter Support Customers may specify mesh or polymer foil support;
or foils may be supplied free-standing.
Standard and Custom Filter Frames Filters can be mounted on standard or custom frames. Let us know your
specifications. We can utilize your frames or fabricate them for you.
Filter Materials Filters can be made of over 40 materials, compounds, and organics. Filters may be
fabricated of a single foil, or layers of materials. Your throughput requirements,
and filter strength are the main factors in determining your filter design.
This filter of aluminized polyimide film is mounted on a custom grid and frame for the
RAPID/CLUSTER space mission. The
instrument was developed by the Max-Planck-Institut für Aeronomie. The filter must
block visible light and UV radiation, while transmitting X-rays to a detector. The
incident particles passing through the filter release secondary electrons. Detection
of the secondary electrons allows for the generation of very precise timing signals.
The design must also ensure that the filter does not accumulate a static charge.
The polyimide film is only 700Å thick! It is coated on both sides: one side with 400Å of aluminum, while
the opposite is also of aluminum, but 1000Å thick.
Evaporation Equipment Our resistance heated vacuum evaporation equipment
can solve your needs for accurate vapor deposition rates. They can reproduce temperature, and
vapor species for consistent film characteristics. Plus, they offer excellent
control in the evaporation of materials up to 1500°C.
