All crucibles are high purity material and have a precision ground lip to provide a vapor seal, which prevents contamination of the radiation baffles.
The high purity (99.9% pure) PBN crucibles have a nominal 2% taper over their length and are available in double wall construction, which is useful in the evaporation of materials that wet the PBN at high temperatures. The inner wall will flex as the material expands and contracts during evaporation. The eventual fracture of the inner wall will allow the material to wet the interface. This will serve as a visual warning to remove the crucible from service before the outer containment wall also fractures, which would result in furnace damage.

Some applications may require the use of an inserta shorter crucible placed inside a standard crucible. Such applications include evaporating materials that would react with the standard crucible material, and evaporating materials that have a higher thermal coefficient of expansion than the crucible material. For example, the re-use of a crucible containing a slug of copper often results in crucible fracture and subsequent furnace damage. The use of an "expandable" insert contains the molten material within the standard crucible, protecting the furnace.

NOTICE:
Luxel has and will remain the premier re-builder of
all our RADAK furnaces and power controllers. However, Luxel realizes
the safety and health of our employees is of prime importance.
Therefore, on all future shipments to Luxel, we now require a Declaration of
Contamination form be filled out listing all materials that the furnace
was exposed to.
Please
download the
Declaration of Contamination PDF form here, print and fill it out and include the form with your
shipment.
Non-completion will result in a delay in your order. Thank
you for your cooperation.
